I initially trained and worked as a midwife with a first-class honours degree. I loved supporting families at such a special time as well as teaching students. After having my own family, I retrained as primary teacher with a PGCE and academic excellence award. I have worked for 5 years in 2 primary schools.

I have sessions available Monday to Friday and work during the day. I also have some afterschool availability.

I start by getting to know your child as an individual — what they enjoy, what they find tricky, and how they learn best.  This helps me plan sessions that support your child in the right way and meeting them where they are in their learning. As we go along, I adjust activities so they feel achievable and are encouraging. 

I keep in regular contact with you so you know exactly what we’ve been working on and how your child is doing. You’re always welcome to ask questions or share any concerns. 

Most families choose one session a week, but some prefer two, especially around SATs or 11+ preparation. We can chat about what would suit your child and your schedule. 

As an experienced Primary School Teacher, I have worked with many children with a range of diagnosed and undiagnosed special educational needs as well as emotional needs that affects their learning and time in school. I am keen to listen to and work with parents who know their child well and what works for them. I also have the training, expertise and experience of using a wide range of tools, scaffolds and approaches that can be highly successful at supporting children to reach their full potential. I understand that children learn in different ways and at different paces and I work hard to support them in a way that feels right for them 

Sessions are usually an hour for KS2 children. I include a mix of teaching, practical tasks, and fun activities to help the learning stick. My aim is always to create a calm, positive session where your child can relax and make progress. 

I use a friendly, encouraging approach with plenty of hands-on activities. Celebrating small steps helps children feel proud and motivated. 

I have access to a wide range of learning materials, including support for children with special needs as well tailoring question styles and presentation to help your child approach questions and tasks that they have the knowledge for but cannot yet apply it the way they might be asked. I can also access past questions and papers for SATS and 11+ 

I start with tasks your child can succeed in and gently build from there. Small wins help them feel more positive about learning. 

Yes, absolutely. Identifying and supporting gaps is a key part of my work. We build these skills gradually so your child feels secure and confident. 

Every child is different, but many parents notice improvements in confidence quite quickly. Academic progress grows steadily as we work together. 

I offer in-person sessions at your home and online sessions are available too 

 Yes, I have an enhanced DBS check and full tutoring insurance. 

Currently, an hour’s tuition costs £40. Payments are made by bank transfer in advance. If you are out or my travelling area of Rutland, I am happy to discuss how we could arrange face to face tuition, covering travel costs, or online sessions. 

I understand that things happen. I just ask for as much notice as possible so I can offer the slot to another family. I will always try to rearrange for another day if I’m available. However, if less than 24 hours’ notice is given, there will be a full charge for the session if we can’t rearrange it for that week. 

Yes — I’m very happy to follow any school targets or reports so we can work together in a consistent way. 

Yes, I teach both. We look at how the questions work, practise together and build strategies to help your child feel confident tackling them. 

I keep sessions calm and reassuring, and break things into small steps so nothing feels overwhelming. Building confidence is just as important as practising the content. 

Yes, I use a wide range of resources, including past papers and practice questions, where appropriate.
